Sprig gardening app

Project brief

Research, prototype, test, and validate an idea for a new mobile application that solves a clearly identified need in users’ everyday lives

My role

UX researcher, designer, and developer in a 4-person team

Methodology

Our initial brainstorming and research suggested that many people are interested in home gardening but feel overwhelmed by garden planning and upkeep. We believed we could solve this with an app that:

  • Allows users to draw custom garden shapes
  • Suggests crop pairings and locations in the garden where plants will thrive
  • Alerts users when plants need water, fertilizer, harvesting, or other care
  • Minimizes info overload with filters and clear plant care instructions

  • Potent value props include no hidden fees, 5-star customer service, and lowest rates

Users are sensitive to credit issues and prefer a helpful tone when they don’t qualify for a specific energy plan
