Sprig gardening app
Project brief
Research, prototype, test, and validate an idea for a new mobile application that solves a clearly identified need in users’ everyday lives
My role
UX researcher, designer, and developer in a 4-person team
Methodology
Our initial brainstorming and research suggested that many people are interested in home gardening but feel overwhelmed by garden planning and upkeep. We believed we could solve this with an app that:
- Allows users to draw custom garden shapes
- Suggests crop pairings and locations in the garden where plants will thrive
- Alerts users when plants need water, fertilizer, harvesting, or other care
- Minimizes info overload with filters and clear plant care instructions
Results
Try the live demo. Future features to explore include:
- Community boards to connect with other gardeners
- Rewards for completing tasks or planting native species
- Sick plant diagnosis tool
Trustpilot widgets

My role
Content designer
Methodology
In our hand-off materials, I included instructions on best value prop choices for each site and examples of how to combine these within different widget formats.
Language user testing
Project brief
Test microcopy for 4 energy marketplace sites to inform paid social and search ads, featured product labels, pricing and credit messaging, and editorial articles
My role
UX researcher
Methodology
Unmoderated tests with 15 participants who meet criteria for the sites' core demographics
Results
Users prefer energy plans tagged as fixed rates, 100% renewable, and Consumers’ choice
- Potent value props include no hidden fees, 5-star customer service, and lowest rates
Users are sensitive to credit issues and prefer a helpful tone when they don’t qualify for a specific energy plan
- Redirect them toward plans they're qualified for and find a balance between friendly and professional
